About Us

Our History

Six months had passed since her parents divorced, but Emma was yet to see her dad. She had no idea why. She was disturbed, sad, and upset … she was longing to see her father. Thanks to the supervised visits arranged by Unity Youth and Family Services, Emma’s father was able to fulfill the court’s requisites and see his daughter. Their reunion was an emotional one with tears flowing freely.

We make such reunions possible by providing a secure, child-focused, and supportive environment for children to meet with their non-custodial parent. All interactions and exchanges occur under the supervision of professional and well-trained staff. Our staff comprises of social workers and law enforcement officers with over forty combined years of experience working with children and their families.

What We Offer

At Unity Youth and Family Services, we facilitate the transfer of children from one parent to another in a way that avoids exposing children to conflict or confrontation between their parents.  Additionally, we safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of the children through the provision of safe, supervised visits.  We provide the following services to foster favorable outcomes for children and their families.

Supervised Visitation

We provide supervised visits available to all, in a cordial, pleasant setting. This is a place for children to spend quality time with their non-custodial parent and a secure, neutral environment for parents to exchange children without coming into contact with one another.

Our services are provided in secure community centers, at home, or our centralized location in Milwaukee. We provide child-friendly rooms, which are supervised by our highly-qualified staff. All supervised visits are pre-scheduled and are subject to availability.

Crisis Stabilization and Mentoring for Children

Divorce or separation of parents can negatively impact children, with many having to cope with new social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges. It is a life-changing event that can destabilize the child and force them to adopt negative behaviors.

At Unity Youth and Family Services, we are on a mission to prevent this by providing crisis stabilization and mentoring for children. We are committed to responding to mental health crises round the clock. Our experienced and well-trained staff comprising of social workers look to provide immediate stabilization. They carefully evaluate the case so that a service plan can be created within a short time, which includes a personalized safety plan for the child involved.

Additionally, one-on-one mentoring is provided to help the children form age-appropriate habits and social skills to overcome challenges and differences and better relate with others in their everyday lives. Ultimately, they can overcome their crisis and live a stable life.

Parenting Skills and Coaching

Becoming a parent is one of the most significant and greatest challenges in life. It can be fun and rewarding, but it can be frustrating and stressful as well. Often, other people are needed to complete the journey successfully. At Unity Youth and Family Services, we provide parents with coaching and skills that allow them to do the following:

  • Understand the emotional needs of their child
  • Develop critical thinking and a sense of responsibility
  • Understand how their child views the world
  • Understand how their parenting affects the early experiences of their child (ren)
  • Tactfully deal with the moods swings of their child
  • Provide a safe, healthy environment for their child to grow up in
