Our Mission

Our Mission

One of the biggest ordeals for separated or divorced parents is arranging safe visits for their child/children with the non-custodial parent. Parents may, either out of choice or by court order, require a third-party to supervise the visits.

Unsupervised visits with children can often be problematic.  Therefore, supervision of these interactions is desired (or required by the Court) to enable children and their parents to meet in a healthier, less stressful environment.

At Unity Youth and Family Services, we provide a secure, child-focused, and supportive environment for children to meet with their non-custodial parents. All interactions and exchanges occur under the supervision of professional and well-trained staff. This helps ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all involved.

 OUR Guiding Beliefs

Unity Youth and Family Services fosters favorable outcomes by providing safe, supervised visits with the objective that, while in our care, children are emotionally and physically secure. Our every action is guided by the following beliefs:

  • Children are deserving of our love and respect.
  • Children have the right to remain physically and emotionally stable.
  • Children have the right to be positive and optimistic, worthy of the commitment of our society towards their well-being, protection and sustained development.
  • Children have the right to know and build positive relationships with their families.

Staying true to these beliefs, we provide children and their parents with a healthy and friendly environment where they can get reacquainted with each other.

Our job is to ensure the safety of the child(ren) during a visit. Additionally, we can hear what’s being said, and write a short, impartial visit description if needed by court. Most importantly, if any actions or words of the visiting party or custodial parent violate our guidelines, we immediately intervene to ensure the well-being of the child(ren).

What Makes Us Different

Unity Youth and Family Services protects the child and the family members involved by ensuring a stable and secure atmosphere for children to interact with a parent who does not have their custody. Our supervised visitation facility is among a handful of locations in Milwaukee where the court ordered visits take place in a controlled setting or a supervised environment.

To make the shift from one party to the other as smooth as possible, we allow parents and/or other relatives to drop off and pick up children for visitation without any fear of harm or conflict. Our trained personnel facilitate the transition in a way that ensures no visual or physical contact—at any time—between the two parties. This helps keep the children safe and away from confrontation.
